Writing About Everything...

From Cover to Cover

A good book is always a good book. Rereading a tried and true novel is a rush. I get insight into things I may have missed the first few times around. At the same time, certain aspects of a story never change. I'll always be reminded of why the story made me smile, sob, or think. I could read so many stories over and over again. It's comforting and an assurance, something that will always be there for me.

Relationships are not like books. Sure, mistakes happen. Second and third attempts are made. But the fact of the matter is that this story is over. I finished this book. Maybe some of the details were forgotten since I last picked it up but the plotline is stuck with me for the rest of my life. There wasn't a happy ending. You can't change the conclusion of a novel. It goes into circulation, it becomes familiar, and it can't be rewritten. It's stuck there in time. Forever.  I'm not picking it up again. It's going to the Goodwill. Understand?
